Wealth Management

Your portfolio should support the plan — not become the plan.

Wealth Management combines ongoing financial planning with professional investment management in one relationship.

The difference is simple: your investments are managed in the context of everything else you're trying to accomplish.

Cash flow. Taxes. Business decisions. Equity compensation. Retirement. Major purchases. Family goals.

Your portfolio is one part of the picture. It shouldn't be the whole conversation.

Planning comes first. Investment management follows.

Investment decisions rarely exist on their own.

  • How much should you invest?
  • Where should your assets be held?
  • How much should you keep in cash?
  • When does it make sense to realize gains?
  • How should a concentrated stock position fit into your overall wealth?
  • How much risk can you actually afford to take?

Those aren't simply portfolio questions.

They're financial planning questions.

That's why our approach starts with understanding your financial life and what you're trying to accomplish.

Then we build and manage the portfolio around that plan.

One relationship across your financial life.

With Wealth Management, you don't have to separate your financial planning from your investment management.

We can help you connect the decisions.

Cash Flow & Income

We consider your income, spending, liquidity needs, business distributions, bonuses, and major upcoming expenses when making investment decisions.

Tax Strategy

We look at the tax implications of investment decisions alongside the rest of your financial plan — including asset location, gains and losses, Roth conversions, equity compensation, and other opportunities.

Investments

We manage your portfolio with your goals, time horizon, risk tolerance, liquidity needs, and broader financial picture in mind.

Retirement

Your investment strategy should change as you move from accumulating wealth toward using it. We incorporate retirement timing, withdrawals, Social Security, and tax-efficient income into the plan.

Equity Compensation

For executives and other equity-compensated professionals, company stock can become a significant part of your financial life. We help evaluate concentrated positions and integrate them into the broader plan.

Business Owners

Business owners often have a large percentage of their wealth tied to their business. Personal investments, cash reserves, business distributions, and eventual liquidity all need to be considered together.

Estate & Legacy

We coordinate investment and planning decisions with your estate strategy, beneficiaries, charitable goals, and the other professionals involved in your financial life.

The portfolio serves the plan.

Your investment portfolio shouldn't exist in a vacuum.

It should answer questions like:

  • How much liquidity do I need?
  • What level of risk makes sense given everything else I own?
  • Where should different assets be held?
  • How should we handle concentrated stock?
  • When should I realize gains or losses?
  • How should my portfolio change as I approach retirement?
  • What needs to happen in my investment accounts because of a decision I'm making elsewhere?

These are the kinds of questions that turn investment management into wealth management.

What ongoing investment management looks like

We manage the portfolio, but we're not simply managing a collection of accounts.

Depending on your circumstances, our work may include:

  • Investment strategy and asset allocation
  • Portfolio construction and management
  • Asset-location decisions
  • Tax-aware investing
  • Rebalancing
  • Concentrated-stock analysis
  • Cash and liquidity management
  • Retirement portfolio positioning
  • Investment implementation
  • Ongoing monitoring and adjustments
  • Coordination with your broader financial plan

And because your circumstances change, the portfolio can change with them.

A new business opportunity, a major purchase, a liquidity event, a change in income, or a shift toward retirement can all affect how your investments should be positioned.

A parent embracing a graduate

One point of contact. One coordinated strategy.

Your financial life may already involve a CPA, attorney, insurance professional, business advisors, and multiple financial institutions.

You shouldn't have to be the person coordinating all of those pieces.

I'll work with your other professionals when appropriate so that investment decisions are made with the rest of your financial picture in mind.

Your CPA can focus on tax preparation and tax advice.

Your attorney can focus on your legal and estate documents.

I focus on connecting those decisions to your overall financial strategy and investment portfolio.

Who Wealth Management is for

Wealth Management may be a good fit for people who:

  • Want ongoing financial planning and professional investment management.
  • Have meaningful assets to manage alongside complex financial decisions.
  • Have high or variable income.
  • Own a business or have significant equity compensation.
  • Have concentrated stock positions or other complex investments.
  • Want their portfolio managed in the context of taxes, cash flow, retirement, and other goals.
  • Prefer to delegate the ongoing mechanics of investment management.
  • Want one advisor coordinating the planning and investment sides of the relationship.

This isn't about turning over your investments and forgetting about them.

It's about having someone responsible for making sure the portfolio continues to make sense as the rest of your financial life changes.

Common Questions

Wealth Management questions.

Does Wealth Management include financial planning?

Yes. Wealth Management includes ongoing financial planning along with professional investment management.

How is Wealth Management different from Ongoing Planning?

Ongoing Planning provides continuing financial planning and decision support, but you remain responsible for managing your investment portfolio.

Wealth Management adds professional investment management to that ongoing planning relationship.

Do you make investment decisions without discussing them with me?

We'll establish your investment strategy together and manage the portfolio within the agreed-upon framework. If a significant financial decision could affect your investment strategy, we'll discuss it with you.

Do you provide tax or legal advice?

We provide tax-aware financial planning and can coordinate with your CPA or attorney. We do not prepare tax returns or provide legal services.

What happens if I want to start with financial planning first?

That's completely fine. Many clients begin with a One-Time Financial Plan or Ongoing Planning and later decide that they want investment management as part of the relationship.
